Here’s what we’ve been reading online this week;
Jason Allen had a post on the For the Church site on parental motivations to avoid. He says, “Due to our sin natures, even our best efforts will remain indecipherably corrupt. But the more one is conscious of a propensity to err in these directions, the less likely one is to do so.” He lists the errors and then goes on to encourage parents with a (… maybe “the”) better way. Parent’s this is a valuable read as we seek to lead our kids towards Christ. We have the propensity to parent wrongly and this will help us to think about it rightly.
Children’s Ministry Leader had a post on kids in corporate worship. If you are thinking of moving in this direction, or are already there, this is a helpful post for leaders and pastors to think through. It is very practical.
Linda Jacobs had a post on the The Kids and Divorce site on recognizing signs of traumatized kids. It reads, “Children who have experienced other types of trauma exhibit particular traits just like the child who has experienced a tornado covers her ears.” While it may not be a comprehensive list, it’s a the very least a start to know what to look for and how to help. This is good for Children’s Ministry leaders and pastors to share with their volunteers.
