Family Friday 11.20.20
Here’s what we’ve been finding helpful online recently:
Desiring God had a post on marriage and its struggles. It reads, “Think of contentment as a heart that trusts God and confidently adjusts to unsatisfied desires. It’s okay to have dreams for your marriage, your family size, your standard of living, your stress levels, your sex life. But marriage often turns on how we deal with delayed or denied dreams.” Whether it’s expectations, desires, or even dreams that are getting in the way of a healthy marriage, we need to remember that marriage is about sacrificial service. God can and does lead His people to find their contentment in Him.
Tim Challis had a heart felt post on quarantine. He says, But what we don’t have and so badly need right now is access to people. No one can come and pray with us, no one can come and read Scripture to us, no one can come and sing with us, no one can come and just be with us. No one can hug us, cry with us, and comfort us. And this is a sorrow added to our sorrow.” In this unprecedented time most of us are feeling the effects of isolation to some degree. Remember God created us for community, so we need to find ways to experience … even if it’s a distance.
Ministry Spark had a post on family engagement. It’s a list of ideas of how to do ministry in the times we find ourselves in. If your church hasn’t started meeting yet, or if your children’s ministry hasn’t restarted yet, these ideas are worth the consideration of leadership.
