Here’s what we’ve been reading online this week:
Cam Hyde had a post recently on the topic of loving your wife like Christ loved the church. In it he answers what that looks like when he writes, “Practically, for us husbands, this means that we hold nothing back from our wives.” While the biblical text and this quote can seem scary and impossible, it is also necessary. God can work in you to make this a reality in your marriage as you seek to be faithful.
Catherine Parks had a post on the ERLC blog about parenting failures. She wrote, “When we embrace our weakness and inadequacy, we have to look outside ourselves for help. When we are weak, our God is strong.” When we get to place where we can admit we are unprepared for parenting and seek help from the only place where it can be found, in our Heavenly Father.
Our friend Sam Luce, had a post on the danger of “self-esteem”. He wrote, “... when you raise a kid who is self-aware you get self-esteem thrown in, but if you try to raise a kid with your primary goal being good self-esteem, you get neither.“ Self-awareness and self-esteem are not the same thing and it’s important for parents to know the difference.
