Here's what we've been reading as we've spent time on the web. These are posts we've found to be helpful and encouraging, we hope you do too.
Dale Hudson had a post on Relevant Children's Ministry about effective things Children's Ministry leaders do before lunch. He starts the post out with this, "Routine is a children's ministry leader's best friend. Effective leaders follow a schedule and are very intentional about how they spend their time." If you are a pastor or a parent and you struggle with scheduling, this post can and will help.
The Verge Network had a post on the topic of kids and procrastination. It reads, "To help our children fight procrastination, we need to help them understand and believe that schoolwork and being a son or daughter are exciting and important roles in the eyes of God." Parent's don't wait, don't procrastinate, go read this; help yourself help your kids.
Thom Rainer had a post on things pastor's kids need to hear. He wrote, "The pastor's kid can be in a position to experience both the extreme highs and the extreme lows of local church ministry." Ok pastor, what are you going to do with this? Because it can't be ignored.
... and not be outdone, Art Rainer had a post about what parents what to hear from their kids after church. He begins this way, "For parents, there is nothing more disappointing than hearing their kids did not have a good experience at church." This is a good read not only for parents but children's ministry pastors and workers as well. It's not ok to bore kids with the gospel.
Relevant Magazine had a great, encouraging post on youth ministry truths. The author writes of their experience, "I'm grateful I had youth leaders who taught me about discernment and the joy that comes with living for something other than myself and the opinions around me." Youth workers, this is an encouraging read for you as well of parents of teens. You never know what's going to happen with the seeds you are planting.
