Family Friday Links 1.22.16
Here’s what we’ve been reading online this week:
Owen Strachan over the For the Church site had a post (… actually a repost) on exercising Christlike headship. He defines headship (via John Piper) this way, “the one who takes ‘primary responsibility for Christlike servant leadership, protection, and provision in the home’ (Recovering Biblical Manhood & Womanhood, 84).” Husbands, Fathers, Pastors the is your responsibility and your primary ministry.
Greg Baird had a post on what families need from churches. He lists several things that parents need, even though they may not even know it, from the church. Pastors and leaders check your ministry against this list.
Jared (a self-professed LifeWay fan boy) found this post about on kid’s ministry and administration. It’s a area I know I’m weak, so as I read it, I was encouraged … and challenged. Check out this great advice.
Jared also found this great post on What’s in the Bible? about praying protection over our kids. It reads in part, “… we parents were still left with the responsibility to see to it that our children are protected whenever they are not in our sight.” Parents, there are helpful verses in this post that serve in helpful ways.
Jeff found a post by Chad Ashby on the topic of unwed pregnancy. He makes the point, “… unwed pregnancy is not a sin.” He goes on to defend this position. Churches and leaders can learn a lot for this post.
