Here's what we've been reading online this week:
The For the Church blog had a post by Derrick Lynch on the idea of finishing well. He wrote, "So, the key to finishing well for anyone, regardless if they are in ministry or not, is to fix our gaze on Christ and relentlessly pursue a vital relationship with Him." Whether your a pastor or a parent, this is an important concept to come to grips with. We all need the long game in view.
Our friend, Sam Luce, on his new collaborative site Gospel at Center had a post on listing reasons kids need systematic theology. He says, "... we must teach kids a faith they can grasp today, but we must also prepare them for the faith they are going to need tomorrow. To prepare kids for future faith, we must give them deep truths that will provide grounding in the face of storms that challenge their faith." Parents, this is primarily your responsibility. Church this should a vital part of what it means to partner with parents, so train them.
Chuck Lawless had a post on ways to pray for Children's Workers this weekend. He lists 10 ways parents and churches can be praying for those who tirelessly work with the next generation. When was the last time you as parent or you as a pastor prayed for them?
