Introducing the Press Pause Podcast
Every Christian parent longs for their children to know, love, and follow Jesus. As parents, we’ve been on our own faith journeys, and want our kids to start on a journey of their own. We’ve dedicated our children to the Lord, and we’ve listened to the annual parenting sermon on Deuteronomy 6. Pastors and leaders we trust have called us to this mission, and we’ve read about it ourselves in the Scriptures.
It’s clear to us that we need to disciple our children, but what do we do first? How do we live out this calling? Where do we begin? If your kids are growing up quickly, is it too late to start? Or maybe you know all the answers to those questions but you still find it difficult to press in. Again and again, you hear yourself saying, “We don’t have time. Work is crazy right now. We’ve got so many other events throughout the week.”
Here’s the bad news. No one is going to do this work for you. There’s not an Uber Eats for teaching your kids to read, engage with, and understand the Bible. The only person showing up at your house to shepherd your children toward Jesus is you.
But there’s good news, too. That’s the way God designed it. It’s a job he’s given you as a parent, and he doesn’t call you to anything that he doesn’t also equip you to do. That’s where our new podcast, Press Pause, comes in. It’s a weekly, less-than-10-minute pod that gives you a chance to engage with and get to know your kids while learning a new big truth about God each week. There’s no training or fancy degree required.
Never done any discipleship work with your kids before? No problem. Grab a Bible and fire up an episode while you’re with your kids at breakfast, bedtime, on the way to practice, or waiting in a carpool line. Already a family discipleship pro? Awesome! Then this pod can be a chance to mix things up once a week and offer a change of pace to the rhythms you’ve already got in place.
Press Pause isn’t a magic bullet that’ll answer every question your kids have or turn them into believers overnight. Jesus saves our kids! No podcast can do that. But it’s a great first step for your faith journey together as a family, and our prayer is that it will draw you closer to one another and to Jesus as you listen together.
The trailer is up now, and episode #1 goes live next week. You can subscribe to Press Pause on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and Spotify now so that you’ll be ready when it launches.
