Do you remember the command God gave to Noah? Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. Well, as the families of Noah multiplied, they found a place and named it, Shinar. Here at Shinar, they all spoke the same language. They really liked this place, so they decided to put up a city there. They obeyed God to multiply but they disobeyed God’s command to fill the earth. They liked being together. They didn’t want to be scattered! See how God used His restraining Grace to not let them go as far as they would on their own and in so doing, set them up for greater blessing!

The Big Takeaways

Even God’s discipline in our life is done to set us up for future blessings

God is so BIG and so GOOD that his punishment on us for wrong is making a way for His promised blessings to be fulfilled. God would do that for his people in Genesis and he does that for us today. The Bible says God disciplines the ones he loves. How can you tell which kids are mine? They are the ones I discipline! God would use his forced scattering to set up his people to receive the blessings of His promises.

You don’t have to work your way to God, He has come to you

He has made a way for us to have a relationship with him and you don’t have to know some elaborate trade, you just have to repent and believe! If you say about your sin what God says about your sin—that it is wrong— and you turn from that sin, believing God and trusting Jesus to help you, you can get right to God! It isn’t about what we do, it is about what He has done!
